Random Bits

It rained yesterday! Hard...all day! It had actually started the night before and I am soooo happy for it. I am one of those people who loves rain and here in LA, when it does rain, it is HUGE for me. I was driving to work yesterday and maybe it was bad conditions and everyone else was stressed and nervous but I had the biggest smile on my face. As I drove home last night I didn't even call anyone to keep me company. The beauty of the rain was enough for me.
And in other news, the apartment is getting bare. My friend came and picked up some furniture I was giving her this weekend and I packed up a bit more. I was really sick last week so that really put a damper on packing. If it was just a regular sniffy cold I probably could have powered through it but, wowzers, this one just knocked me flat with exhaustion. But I am on the mend, the weather is perfectly chilly and hopefully more rainy, my beautiful Hazel sisterfriend is coming in this Thursday from Washington, and Friday is my last day. Good stuff all around!

Yar, 'tis crafting I be!

This is the pirate afghan I am working on for my wonderful Cindy friend. The origianl plan for it started more than a year ago but, silly me, I have never designed anything this...elaborate. My momma has though! She is a quilter but she can knit and she does like a good challenge (though she may deny that, but don't believe her) so I rangled her help in designing this thing. It was a bit hard to coordinate because she lives in Washington and I in California but through the marvels of modern technology we finally were able to settle on a pattern. Then my marvelous mother made this amazing graph and written directions! A number of things conspired to delay this project and now I am a mere two weeks from needing it done! Actually, it's more like one week because I am seeing Miss Cindy this weekend and I don't know if I'll have another chance to see her before I leave, because we live about 45 minutes from each other and she is crazy busy. So that picuture is where it is as of today and that is probably about 1/3 done. I'm sure I can finish it but I wont promise because I still have lots of other things to do.

And So It Begins

I feel like my final countdown to moving to Texas has begun. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. I made a pumpkin pie that was quite a hit and, of course, because I am new to this whole digital camera/blogging thing I didn't take any pictures of that little adventure. I did, however, get a good amount of stuff done (packing, crafting, sorting, relaxing) so I feel refreshed but productive. I am making my Christmas gifts this year so I can't post those until after they are given. My list of things to do before I leave is short (make presents, do Christmas cards, finish afghan and pack) but they are time consuming so I am left with this weird in-between feeling of too much/not enough time. It will be fine I'm sure but I do have to be careful to stay present. I've caught myself drifting in my thoughts, which is fine sometimes but I still have to get things done and to do that I really need to be present the next three weeks! :D
